Baltimore, MD, April 17, 2024- Get your baking equipment ready Baltimore! Starbucks is coming for the 1st annual Starbucks Local Showcase held in Baltimore city. Local bakeries will have the opportunity to show their stuff and compete for the chance to have their product added to the official Starbucks menu.
The showcase will take place over three days from the 18th to the 21st of April in Fells point, Baltimore. Over a dozen bakeries and coffee shops will have their chance to showcase their delicious baked goods. The event will have venders and local businesses lining the streets in the park so the community can come out and try their creations. A large turnout from the Baltimore community is expected for the event with live music and free parking. The event will be organized by Starbucks workers and event planners helping to spread the word through social media and coordinate with the stores on site. Starbucks memorabilia and promotions will also be made available in the event. Throughout the showcase, a combination of judges and attendee voting will be compiled to decide which products were the best. On the final day, the votes will be tallied, and the winners will be given the chance to have their products placed into Starbucks stores nationwide.
The event comes from a desire in the company to both engage with small businesses in the Baltimore area and enhance the Starbuck’s brand with new and delicious products. Starbucks believes this event will help black owned businesses and shops that have struggled after Covid to broaden their brand and establish themselves in the community. Bakeries like Cakes in the City, Midnight Confection’s Cupcakery and Baked in Baltimore are signed up for the showcase.
“We believe this event will allow local bakeries to engage with the community and Starbuck’s brand,” said Dominic Carr, Executive Vice President for Starbucks. “For the last 53 years, we have taken pride in our mission, ‘With every cup, with every conversation, with every community- we nurture the limitless possibilities of human connection’.”
At Starbucks, we believe this event will help connect more people to the Starbucks brand than ever before while giving back to the community it so cherishes. Building relationships with local businesses are part of this core mission to build connections with our company to the communities. Starbucks is proud to showcase locally owned businesses and continue the company’s place as a leader for social change and the betterment of local communities.
